Hello Anglophiles! I’m Nicole Wiltrout, a new contributor to the Anglotopia website. Over the coming months, I’ll be sharing my experiences as an expat from America living in England, as well as writing posts about my family’s travels around the United Kingdom. I thought I’d take a moment to introduce myself so you’ll know a little more about me.
For the past 20+ years, I have called Indiana home. I love life in the Midwest and exploring its many cities, towns and attractions. But I love travel of all kinds, exotic and simple. When my two sons were born, traveling as a family was something I was so passionate about that I started a blog, called Arrows Sent Forth, where I chronicled our trips and adventures around the U.S.
About 6 months ago, my husband was offered a position with his Indiana-based company across the pond in the East Midlands area of England. We moved in May, and for the next three years, we will call Collyweston, our tiny village, home. We are truly excited about the adventures ahead and I look forward to sharing some of the experiences we’ll have on Anglotopia.
I’m a freelance writer, with a focus in family travel. I’ve written for Visit Indiana, Expedia, HomeAway, and several other print and online publications and organizations. When I’m not writing, I’m busy being a wife and a mom to our two little boys, ages 4 and 1 ½. I also enjoy photography, reading and cheering on my Butler Bulldogs every basketball season.
I plan to share all kinds of details about life in England, from what it’s like to grocery shop to sending a child off to school here. We’ve already taken several day trips around England, with many more weekends of fun ahead of us. If there’s anything you’ve ever wondered about life as an expat, or area of the country you want to know more about, please feel free to connect with me at arrowssentforth at gmail dot com, on Facebook at the Arrows Sent Forth page, or on Twitter (@arrowssentforth).
Really looking forward to reading your posts. Welcome to the UK!
Looking forward to reading your posts. I’m a Hoosier who married a Brit. We will be going to England in about 10 days for a two week stay to visit my husband’s family. Can’t wait to get some yummy sausage rolls from Gregg’s! It sounds like you are starting the beginning of a great adventure with your family! Enjoy!
Lucky you! I’m sitting here in
Terre Haute wishing I was once again
in the UK. Will look forward to seeing
it again through another Hoosier’s eyes.
Have a scone with clotted cream and think
of those of us at home.
Cheers!
I look forward to reading your views, thoughts and impressions. I’m actually a Brit living in Indiana. So at least we balanced everything out.
Welcome to England, I hope you have many happy adventures.
Glad to see you are in the East Midlands & not in the terrible Deep South (Northerners would rather have their tongues slit than mention the dreaded ‘L’-word …..((London!!!!)) ),
Try a pork pie in Melton Mowbray…….Tuesday is Cattle Market Day…….the latter is guaranteed to entertain the kids during School Hols (Note: ‘Hols/holiday……NOT ‘Vacation’).
Out my way…….you have Sherwood Forest of Robin Hood fame, Nottingham Castle, & Lincoln Castle & Cathedral….all good days out with plenty to entertain two young ‘uns.
So looking forward to this! 8) Please post often!
