Anglotopia Video: Scenes from and English Summer – 2018 Edition – Royal Wedding and the Lake District

November 8, 2018 By Jonathan 2 Comments

Between the Royal Wedding and a trip to the Lake District for a writer's workshop, I spent quite a bit of time in England this past summer, as I did the previous summer. So, I've gathered the best footage I shot from this year's trips and combined them into one long video showcasing England in the summer - many would say England at it's finest. I've set it to the Five Variants … [Read more...] about Anglotopia Video: Scenes from and English Summer – 2018 Edition – Royal Wedding and the Lake District

Anglophile Zen: Castle Combe in the Rain – Spend Five Glorious Minutes in English Paradise

October 19, 2018 By Jonathan 2 Comments

Castle Combe is one of the most famous places in England because of its beauty. I've visited several times and I love it there. What I love most is the complete silence. It's a true escape from the hustle and bustle of the world. We stopped there for a night on our drive from Land's End to John O'Groats and I took some time to shoot this video. It was raining, early morning, … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: Castle Combe in the Rain – Spend Five Glorious Minutes in English Paradise

Anglophile Zen: Spend Five Minutes at the Aira Force Waterfall in the Lake District

September 11, 2018 By Jonathan Leave a Comment

Spend five minutes at one of Britain's most famous waterfalls, Aira Force, located in the Lake District near Ullswater. This beautiful National Trust property is a nice diversion from any exploration of the Lake District. It's a magical place that you must get to via a path and steep old staircase build by the Victorians. Sit back, relax, put some headphones on and put the … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: Spend Five Minutes at the Aira Force Waterfall in the Lake District

Anglophile Zen: Spend Five Minutes in the Lake District at Castlerigg Stone Circle

August 28, 2018 By Jonathan 3 Comments

It's time to be transported to one of the most beautiful landscapes I've ever visited. When I visited the Castlerigg Stone Circle - the Lake District equivalent to Stonehenge, I set up my camera to capture the view for five minutes. Look at the beautiful mountain. Listen to the sheep bleat, watch them mosey around. Listen to the wind n the hills and the birds in the distance. … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: Spend Five Minutes in the Lake District at Castlerigg Stone Circle

Anglotopia Videos: Anglotopia Drives Through the Hardknott Pass – The Steepest Road in England

July 18, 2018 By Jonathan 2 Comments

I recently had the pleasure of driving through the Hardknott Pass in the Lake District, something I've always wanted to do. My journey started at the Troutbeck Inn near Penrith and my journey took me south through Grasmere and then through the Wrynose Pass and then the Hardknott Pass before finishing in Eskdale. The gradients are 30% and many signs warn you not to take this … [Read more...] about Anglotopia Videos: Anglotopia Drives Through the Hardknott Pass – The Steepest Road in England

Anglophile Zen – 40 Minute Windsor Thames Boat Trip – Video

May 25, 2018 By Jonathan 1 Comment

The day before the Royal Wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, I had some time to explore Windsor & Eton (article to come). One thing I really wanted to do was take a Thames boat cruise. I took one with French Brothers which went up the Thames and back to Windsor. It took about 40 minutes. I set up my GoPro to record the whole thing. It was a beautiful sunny English … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen – 40 Minute Windsor Thames Boat Trip – Video

Anglophile Zen: Drive to the Dorset Coast With Us – Video

April 13, 2018 By Jonathan 2 Comments

On a cloudy but surprisingly warm New Year's Day, we hopped into our hire car and drove from Shaftesbury, Dorset down to Tyneham, an abandoned village located near the coast. The drive takes almost an hour. But it's an incredibly beautiful drive, even on a cloudy day. And the sun comes out at the end. I set up a GoPro to record the whole drive, which you can see below. I've … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: Drive to the Dorset Coast With Us – Video

Anglophile Slow TV: Drive With Us from Heathrow Airport to Shaftesbury Dorset

March 15, 2018 By Jonathan 4 Comments

Join us as we drive from Heathrow Airport to Shaftesbury, Dorset. It's just under a 2-hour drive and on a recent trip we set up a GoPro in our hire car and filmed the entire journey. This video had audio but YouTube made us remove it. There were almost two hours of witty commentary as we made the journey. But we made the mistake of leaving the radio on, which meant that the … [Read more...] about Anglophile Slow TV: Drive With Us from Heathrow Airport to Shaftesbury Dorset

Anglophile Zen: Blackmore Vale Timelapse – Shaftesbury, Dorset – YouTube

January 16, 2018 By Jonathan Leave a Comment

On a recent trip to Shaftesbury, Dorset, I mounted a GoPro camera on the side of the cottage and filmed the entire day in timelapse. Over 10 hours, watch Britain's low winter sun track across the sky, revealing stunning cloudscapes across the Blackmore Vale (and some interesting activity in the town throughout the day). Sit back, put this on full screen and relax as you enjoy … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: Blackmore Vale Timelapse – Shaftesbury, Dorset – YouTube

Video: Scenes from an English Summer

November 30, 2017 By Jonathan 3 Comments

https://youtu.be/sC-7EylOYvA I've gone through all the video I shot last summer during my trip to England and compiled into one long video set to The Lark Ascending by Ralph Vaughn-Williams, a piece of music by its own definition evokes the English countryside. You're not going to learn anything from this video, it's just beautiful shots of England from last summer. Sit … [Read more...] about Video: Scenes from an English Summer

November 11, 2017 By Jonathan 4 Comments

When I was in England this past summer for my trip to Oxford, I shot tons of video and I've finally had the time to start going through it and editing together some videos. First up is one I'm really excited about. It's a 1 hours journey along the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway. Last summer I visited the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway on a visit to … [Read more...] about Anglophile Zen: New Anglotopia Video – 1 Hour Journey Along the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Heritage Railway – Cotswolds

July 23, 2014 By Jonathan

There's a new trend in YouTube videos called Slow TV, where a camera is setup and then left to record a long journey. There's a popular video going around of a 9 hour train ride in Norway. Going through our archives, I remembered I recorded our the entire journey of a boat ride down the Thames from Westminster Pier to Greenwich.
